Ardmore takes over £57m Portobello Square project

8 May 12 Ardmore Construction has started work on the £57m first phase of the redevelopment of a Kensington housing estate in London.

Client Catalyst Housing had initially picked Mansell for the first phase of the redevelopment of the Wornington Green Estate in Portobello Road but detailed negotiations broke down last summer.

After retendering the project, Ardmore has emerged on top.

The first phase sees the delivery of 324 housing units to create Portobello Square and is expected to take 45 months to complete. The full redevelopment project of the run down estate is valued at £350m and will see all of the current 538 homes being demolished and replaced over the next 12 years by 1,000 new homes, including apartments and mews houses, in a mix of private and social housing.
