The preliminary test piling began last month, ahead of the main works in August 2013.
Bauer’s work will consist of the construction of a diaphragm wall and deep base-grouted piles. Despite the large-scale nature of the project, work will be completed to an extremely tight three month schedule.
The contract was awarded by the US Department of State Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) main contractor BL Harbert and prime subcontractor Sir Robert McAlpine.
Drawing on its German parent company’s fleet, Bauer will mobilise a number of rigs including a pair of BG40s, two BG28s and two diaphragm wall grabs on Bauer MC64 base units.
