Brookfield Multiplex lands construction of Abu Dhabi mall

10 Aug 15 Brookfield Multiplex won the AU$425m (£203m) construction contract for a major shopping centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Brookfield Multiplex will construct Gulf Related’s 2.3 million square foot mall on Al Maryah Island.

When completed in March 2018, the AU$1bn Al Maryah Central mall have international department stores Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, more than 400 other shops, 145 restaurants and cafés, and a 20-screen cinema complex. In addition Al Maryah Central will include a medical centre, a crèche, a health club, a public library and a food market as well as three rooftop parks. Subsequent phases will add residential units as well as a hotel in two high rise towers.

Al Maryah Central’s excavation and foundation construction work has just been completed and Brookfield Multiplex’s contract covers the remaining full construction of the mall, with vertical construction starting this month.
