James Reeves, technical director in Gifford’s transport planning team, will join a consortium led by the Australian-based projects consultancy Sinclair Knight Merz. The work will cover a rolling programme of infrastructure improvements and maintenance in a five-year programme funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
He will work alongside ministry officials to deliver a wide-ranging programme of improvements to roads, airfields and wharves on the islands, located to the north east of Australia in the Pacific Ocean.
The Solomon Islands consists of over 1,000 islands in total but the development programme is centred on the largest islands, which include Guadalcanal, and the town of Honiara, which is the capital.
