Grontmij helps develop plans for Centre Point

26 Aug 11 Engineering consultancy Grontmij has been appointed to work with investment company Almacantar on plans to develop the 32-storey Centre Point tower in central London.

Grontmij, which carried out the due diligence for the purchase of Centre Point earlier this year, has now been engaged to work on the design team reviewing the options for the Tottenham Court Road landmark.

The company will be responsible for all of the engineering systems and sustainable design including minimising the use of energy, vertical  transport, fire strategy engineering and assessments.

Luxembourg-based Almacantar bought Centre Point, at the end of Oxford Street, in March from a collapsed subsidiary of Targetfollow.
