Housing trust and builders’ merchant strike procurement deal

2 Jul 14 Builders’ merchant Travis Perkins is setting up a dedicated distribution facility for Manchester’s Trafford Housing Trust under a new four-year procurement partnership.

The new 6,000 square foot depot at Trafford Park will stock more than 1,500 product lines and will supply materials, tools and accessories. It will support the trust’s repairs & maintenance service through a delivery service ‘direct to site’ rather than being a traditional collection depot. Trafford Housing Trust is responsible for more than 9,000 properties across Trafford, a borough of Greater Manchester.

The distribution centre will also be used by Trafford Housing Trust’s Handy Fix commercial repairs service that is available to non-tenants.

Travis Perkins Group Managed Services managing director Ian Church said: “At Travis Perkins we strive to come up with tailored solutions to meet client needs and this initiative with Trafford Housing Trust is a great example of joint working. We’re also proud that our company name will adorn Trafford Housing’s fleet of repair vehicles, and we look forward to supporting the Trust as their maintenance partner as we go forward.”

Travis Perkins was awarded the contract after a competitive tender process. It runs until 2018.
