Killby & Gayford’s Photographers’ Gallery

21 Jul 11 Ramillies Street and Ramillies Place in the heart of London’s West End was closed to traffic to allow Killby & Gayford operatives to install pre-cast reinforced concrete staircases and landings.

The lift is part of an £8.7 million contract that the London based contractor is undertaking at the Photographers’ Gallery.

The Design and Build project will create three floors of new gallery space, new educational areas, a street level cafe and bar, a shop in the basement and a new passenger lift, fire escape and staircase. The four flights of staircases and two landings were manufactured off-site by Milbank Ltd, and the crane used for the lift was a Spierings SK 1265 AT6. The completed structure will comprise of a basement and six stories.

The works started in November 2010 and are due for completion later this year.
