Lingfield Park is first past the post at International Design & Architecture Awards

Beating off stiff competition to claim first prize in the Hotel category for the Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club in Surrey, completed in April 2010 for client Arena Leisure Plc. 

The International Design & Architecture Awards celebrate the best in interior design, architecture and innovation throughout the world. Their aim is to celebrate design, recognise talent, create opportunities and to offer inspiration. This year the ceremony was held at The Connaught Hotel in Mayfair and was attended by short-listed companies from across the world.

The £21m four-star hotel at Lingfield Park was described by the judges as: “looking like it belongs to the site; it has been designed to provide a maximum panorama of the course and surrounding countryside and uninterrupted views over the racecourse.” 

The hotel comprises 116 luxury bedrooms - many of which boast stunning views across the Lingfield Park racecourse - alongside high quality leisure and health facilities including an 18-hole golf course, indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna, gym and the Breathe Spa. A selection of private function and hospitality suites are available to hire, together with conference and banqueting rooms, all complemented with a stylish lobby lounge and bar area. The Lingfield Park Marriott Hotel and Country Club is the first ‘racecourse country club’ in the UK. 

Kier Southern construction director Peter Searle collected the award on behalf of the team from comedian, writer and actress Helen Lederer; he commented: “It is really good when a project gains such recognition - all the teams involved with the project should be very proud of their input.”
