The contract also includes options to provide post take over services to Fife Council for plant service and maintenance and specialist technical support.

Fife environmental sustainability manager Chris Ewing said: “We believe that turning food and garden waste at Lochhead into power and heat could save the council around £1.2m each year.” It should also reduce carbon emissions by up to 11,000t a year, he said.
