Luxury retirement apartments take shape in Worcester

8 Sep 11 Construction company George Law, part of construction and engineering firm Stepnell, is on course to complete 51 luxury retirement apartments for sale in Worcester by the end of the year.

The new extra care housing at Eastbank Drive, off Northwick Road, will create 30 one-bedroom and 21 two-bedroom apartments for Stepnell’s retirement and extra care housing division, Aspen Retirement Ltd. The scheme forms the first phase of a 111-home development by Aspen Retirement.

The new apartments will give residents the opportunity to live independently in their own high-quality, purpose-designed home in a setting which also gives them access to 24-hour support from trained staff as well as extensive communal facilities. The new Eastbank Court development will feature a main lounge, restaurant offering a wide range of meals, a licensed bar, library, hobbies room, garden room, a salon and treatment room and landscaped gardens. All the apartments will be built to Lifetime Home Standards, with a sensitive design incorporating a wide range of adaptations to meet the requirements of older residents.

The George Law team began working on the £5.7 million first phase in September 2010 with completion on schedule for December 2011. The second phase of work will create 22 further apartments with 38 homes set to be built in the third phase of the scheme.

“We’re delighted that George Law is working with Aspen Retirement using the company’s expertise in building residential developments to a very high standard to deliver these beautifully designed new retirement homes for Worcester,” says Stepnell managing director Mark Wakeford.
