Solutions for North Tyneside, a consortium comprising Miller Construction, Equitix and Keepmoat, will provide more than 900 apartments across 10 new and 16 refurbished sheltered housing schemes in the northeast.
It is expected work will start on site in September and all the schemes will be completed by autumn 2016.
The consortium will also be responsible for the cleaning, repair and on-going maintenance over the 28-year contract, which is worth £300m.
Miller Construction chief executive Chris Webster said: “We are delighted to have been selected as preferred bidder for this significant project in North Tyneside. We have established ourselves as a quality contractor in the area and are looking forward to delivering first class sheltered accommodation for the residents of North Tyneside.

“In addition to being the largest housing project in the region over the next three years, this project has a number of key community benefits attached to it, including creating up to 500 jobs for the region. As part of our corporate responsibility commitment, we are aiming for 30% of the construction workforce to be from the borough’s most deprived areas.”
