This new role brings together membership and training in Scotland and Northern Ireland into one place for BESA (formerly the HVCA until 2012 and briefly styled as B&ES until a second rebranding in 2015).

Iain McCaskey joins BESA following 15 years with the Federation for Industry Sector Skills & Standards, where he was most recently operations director. He was involved with developing a national apprenticeship certification system and a centralised payment portal with an online self-training tool.

Mr McCaskey is based at BESA’s offices outside Edinburgh. He reports to membership director Richard Ward and to Tony Howard, director of BESA Training. Zanna Tweedie will continue in the role of assistant national executive for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Richard Ward said: “I am confident that, as a fierce advocate of vocational education with excellent communications skills and a qualification in management studies, Iain will bring fresh impetus to the BESA’s operations in Scotland and Northern Ireland, and will further enhance the services we provide to the membership and the sector.”
