One Call Hire said that it was the only plant hire company in the UK to have invested in VAB technology, which is significantly more expensive than standard mono boom machines, it said.
In comparison to the standard mono boom Cat 312E, the 312E VAB has a variable angled three-piece boom that gives extra lifting capacity. These machines are especially useful for applications where safe lifting is essential, such as shaft and pipeline work, One Call Hire said. The 312E VAB can lift 10.5 tonnes at 3m radius, compared to seven tonnes for the mono boom version.
The new machines also have 500mm rubber tracks and are powered by the latest fuel-efficient Stage IIIB engines.
