Osborne completes £8.1m Aldershot affordable homes

6 Dec 10 Osborne has completed a £8.1m million residential development in Aldershot, Hampshire, for Sentinel Housing Association.

The new build development provides 73 affordable homes with basement car parking in a five storey building on Sebastopol Road in Aldershot town centre. It will offer 33 one bedroom and 40 two bedroom flats, 39 of which will be for rental and 34 shared ownership.

The development achieves EcoHomes ‘Very Good’ standard, which includes high levels of insulation, sustainably procured materials and integral cycle storage facilities for residents.

It was built using traditional materials, externally clad in facing brick with a glass-covered courtyard for residential use and a basement car park constructed with a reinforced concrete frame.

Sentinel Housing Association is north Hampshire’s biggest landlord, with more than 7,600 homes, concentrated in Basingstoke, Fleet, Aldershot and Farnborough. Its aim is to grow by 500 affordable rented and sale homes a year until 2013.

Jason Glue, Director of Osborne’s Homes Sector said: “Being able to work with Sentinel from the pre-planning process onwards meant that we could offer early input on technical issues, helping to keep the cost plan on track and delivering a better end result for the client and its residents.”
