Progress for Whitchurch supermarket plan

20 Sep 11 Developer Terrace Hill has received a minded to grant recommendation for its current planning application for a Sainsbury's supermarket in Whitchurch, Shropshire.

The application was unanimously supported a meeting of council planners last week and will now be referred to the Department of Communities & Local Government.

Following the local authority recommendations, approval is expected within 21 days.

Construction of the new 30,000 sq ft supermarket close to Whitchurch town centre is expected to start by summer 2012, with the store opening in 2013.

The planning recommendation follows closely after two of Terrace Hill's other foodstore developments, in the northeast, received minded to grant recommendations earlier this month.
