QS appointed for £63m Knockroon campus

East Ayrshire Council has appointed Faithful & Gould as quantity surveyor for the £63.5m Knockroon Learning & Enterprise Campus development.

The new campus is the biggest capital project ever undertaken by East Ayrshire Council. It will provide more than 2,000 secondary, primary and pre-school places for the communities of Cumnock, Auchinleck and surrounding areas.  It will incorporate Barshare and Greenmill primary schools, Hillside ASN School, Auchinleck Academy and Cumnock Academy.

Sheppard Robson was appointed architect for the project earlier this year.

Subject to completion of all necessary consultations and procurement procedures, construction is planned to begin in July 2017, with a planned opening scheduled for 2019.

Faithful & Gould associate director Barry Young said: “East Ayrshire Council’s aspiration is to deliver a state of the art inclusive learning environment for generations to come.  Our role will be integral to ensure East Ayrshire Council realise this ambition.  We will deliver a facility that recognises the scale of the investment and our contribution will be to optimise capital expenditure, maintenance and lifetime running costs, increase functionality and efficiency, maximise environmental performance and end user satisfaction overall.  We’re motivated and excited to get started”.
