RG Carter wins College of West Anglia's £7.5m tower refurb

10 Jul 12 RG Carter has won a £7.5m contract to refurbish a nine-storey tower block at the College of West Anglia’s King’s Lynn campus.

The contractor saw of four rival bidders for the design and build job, which is expected to be completed by February 2013.

The tower block is the hub of the whole campus. The refurbishment plans include replacing all the windows and re-cladding the whole exterior as well as building an extension to the ground floor to house new restaurant and social facilities for students. The internal works will include complete new floor layouts as well as new heating, lighting and elevator systems.

Pick Everard is the college's consulting engineer/architect for the project.

The college is in the process of a £25m redevelopment of its King's Lynn and Isle campuses. This involves the refurbishment of several existing buildings as well as new technology centres in King's Lynn and Wisbech.

In King's Lynn a new £5.8m technology centre is scheduled to open this summer 2012.
