Robertson complete BMW showroom

12 Jan 12 Infrastructure, support services and construction group Robertson has completed a £2 million refurbishment and new build contract at a BMW showroom in Stockton.

The 28 week programme involved the refurbishment of all showrooms, offices and workshop along with the demolition of part of the exiting showroom.

As well as a total refurbishment of the building, extensions were incorporated consisting of a steel framed workshop, plant deck and two story handover bay with accompanying offices.

The internal refurbishment consisted of fully tiled floors to the open arena of the sales area, lit up by extensive trough lighting to provide a vibrant environment to showcase the prestige and dynamic BMW range of cars.

The new workshop has been developed to a high standard and includes a number of in ground cassette vehicle lifts and a double MOT bay that now resembles the clinical F1 style pit environment with its fully tiled floors and walls.

Servicing equipment and electronic link-up to the factory is built into the tiled walls at each technicians work bay.

Externally extensive new block paving and tarmac has been laid and married into some of the existing external works, providing a seamless link into the adjoining Cooper Mini dealership that remained live throughout the course of the build.

The external area now incorporates state of the art LED lighting and an infra red, heat sensing CCTV system.

Group Property Manager for Inchcape, one of the largest franchised dealer groups in the UK, Derek Millican, said: “With the help of Robertson and our professional team we were able to decant the entire business into a temporary facility whilst they went about the task of totally remodelling a site which we had outgrown and the building had, quite frankly, reached the end of its shelf –life!

Robertson produced for us a facility to be proud of with their attention to detail and ability to understand our sometimes demanding requirements. Our thanks goes to Robertson NE, Taylor Design, Lumsdon Wood and Glyn Robinson for delivering this flagship facility for which we are extremely proud.”

Regional Business Development Director for Robertson Martin Westgate said: “There has been a huge effort by the team to deliver this project with completion successfully achieved on the date specified, and excellent relationships built with the client’s design team along the way. The result is the successful completion and handover of this project – on time and on budget.”
