The Tuas depot will be built as part of the Tuas West Extension. The 26ha depot will provide stabling and maintenance facilities for 13 additional North-South-East-West Line trains that will be purchased for the extension. It will also cater for future capacity expansion.
Tuas West Extension will extend the East-West Line and consists of a 7.5km-long twin tracked MRT viaduct and four above-ground stations. The MRT viaduct is also integrated with a road viaduct along Pioneer Road.
Construction of the depot will start at end of this year and is targeted to complete in 2016.
