This is the first new Liebherr that Specialist Crane Hire has bought and joins a fleet of around 35 mobile cranes operating from the company's four depots.

Specialist Crane Hire has grown through the acquisitions of A Jardine & Sons in 2002 and Marsden Crane Hire in 2003.

The LTM 1040-2.1 is a two-axle machine with a four-section 35m main boom. It can lift 1.1t to a 31m working radius. The crane has a 9.5m folding fly-jib which can be offset by 0°, 20°, 40° and 60°, producing a maximum 44m under-hook-height and a working radius of 39m lifting 400kg.

It has a single 205kW engine, ZF automatic transmission, hydropneumatic suspension, and Liebherr LICCON 2 computerised crane controls.

Like all new Liebherr cranes, the LTM 1040-2.1 comes with GSM technology to enable Liebherr service engineer to help diagnose any faults or breakdowns that might occur.
