Stepnell chosen to build £6.3m Cheltenham care home

27 Oct 11 Construction company Stepnell has been awarded a £6.3 million contract by The Orders of St John Care Trust to build a new residential care home in Cheltenham.

The charitable trust – which specialises in providing high-quality care for older people – has chosen Stepnell to build a three-storey care home in Windsor Street, Cheltenham, on the site of a former factory. It will provide 36 beds for people with dementia and 45 nursing beds.

The development, awarded following a competitive tendering process, is set to be completed in Spring 2013.

“Our team is thrilled to have been awarded the contract to build this important new development,” says Stepnell managing director Mark Wakeford. “We have a strong track record in building high-quality care home accommodation and will bring that experience and our knowledge of the specific needs of older residents to the construction of this new facility, working in close collaboration with The Orders of St John Care Trust.”
