Three killed in Chinese bridge collapse

24 Aug 12 Reports from China's official news agency Xinhua say that three people were killed when part of the approach to a new suspension bridge collapsed today.

The eight-lane Yangmingtan Bridge had opened only last year. The collapse happened 3.5km from the main part of the bridge, which has a total length of more than 15km.

The reports say that four trucks fell from the US$300m (£190m) bridge.
