Vinci team starts on €180m rail line

24 Nov 11 ETF-Eurovia Travaux Ferroviaires has started construction of 212km of railway between Metz and Strasbourg under a €180m (£155m) design and build contract.

The contact signed with Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) is for the LGV Est high-speed line.

Eurovia is a Vinci subsidiary working on the construction and maintenance of road and rail infrastructure.  ETF-Eurovia Travaux Ferroviaires works on the construction and maintenance of fixed rail installations on French railway networks and urban transport networks.

The Merz to Strasbourg contract covers integrated project management and construction of track and all of the overhead-line equipment. In particular, it includes 474km of rail track, a million tonnes of ballast and 395,000 sleepers.

Work on the 46-month project and will be managed by L’Européenne de Travaux Ferroviaires, a ETF-Eurovia Travaux Ferroviaires subsidiary which brings together all Eurovia's rail activities.
