Description
SYMCA are seeking to appoint a delivery partner to collaborate with the Authority to deliver the new South Yorkshire People's Network (SYPN) Transport Shelters Improvement Programme (Bus and Tram).
The South Yorkshire People's Network (SYPN) is the new integrated transport brand for the region, bringing together bus, tram, rail and active travel under a single vision: a connected, people-focused network that serves every community across South Yorkshire.
As public transport comes back under greater public control and significant investment is made in infrastructure, vehicles and customer experience, we have an opportunity to rethink one of the most visible elements of the transport system: the stops, shelters and interchanges for buses and trams.
This is a single stage competitive procedure for initial concept design award, with options to extend the contracts through the following stages:
Stage 1: Concept Design,
Stage 2: Detailed Design, Testing and Commissioning
Stage 3: Manufacture, Install and Supply for key locations
Stage 4: Ongoing supply and install across the network
SYMCA are open for suppliers to approach this commission as a consortium or joint venture project team, to ensure that the appropriate design ambition is achieved.
We are looking for designs that are beautiful but not at the expense of functionality; ambitious but achievable; distinctive but durable and inspiring while remaining safe, inclusive and practical for everyday use.
The consultant shall undertake the role of Principal Designer under the Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations 2015 for the initial design stages of the commission and will then undertake the role of Principal Contractor under the CDM regulations 2015 for the "Build" stage of the commission.

Other information
Description of risks to contract performance
• The estimated costs for supply are based on existing arrangements with contingency for the new designs as the actual requirements cannot be known in detail at this stage given there is no finalised design, there is therefore a risk that actual supply costs may vary up or down over time.
• The volume of supply has been estimated for all potential assets, with an allowance for normal replacements per annum. there is a likely risk that this volume will vary due to unforeseen levels of damage and need for more replacement shelters than forecast.
• Risk of legislative changes, regulatory changes or changes in law during the term of the contract.
• Risk of unforeseen circumstances that cause the value of the contract to increase or decrease (previous examples include BREXIT, war, trade-tariffs, pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis)
• Risk of unforeseen political impact.
