How not to secure your diesel tank

Digger Blogger | 19:48, Wed December 08 2010

Securing your diesel bowser on site is a constant problem especially in today’s tough economic times when fuel theft is rife; let's hope your staff have a better idea then this?

I came across these photos, on an excellent Dutch machinery forum that I have been a member of for many years.

Bouwmachine forum has over 6,500 members and some very interesting topics are covered there, one of my favourite topics is the "What not to do" thread which is currently on its 5th instalment.

The operator of this Takeuchi TB175 thought it would be a good idea to place the bucket on top of his fuel tank to secure it at the end of his shift.

However he didn't anticipate the boom dropping overnight as most machines do and it has squashed the top of the plastic bunded tank. Just as well it was a smaller machine or there could have been a serious spillage incident to contend with!
