“Pushy and Pushier” big dozers with big reputations

Digger Blogger | 19:29, Thu October 11 2012

I was sent these photos last week, by my old school friend Michele McNulty, who has contacts in the mines in Western Australia.

These two dozers which are currently working at the Tom Price mine in Western Australia, are affectionately known by the works team as “Pushy and Pushier” They are a Caterpillar D11T and a Komatsu D475A-5. Both dozers look equally impressive in this side by side shot I’m sure you will agree.

The Caterpillar D11T is powered by Cat’s C32 ACERT engine, which gives the big dozer a rated power output of 850hp/634kw. While the Komatsu D475A-5 is powered by Komatsu’s own SAA12V140E-3 engine, which offers an even more impressive 900hp/671kw.

I hope to be making contact with a member of the mine team soon, so it will be interesting to find out their opinions on how these two dozers compare, out in the field.
