Two pints of lager, a packet of crisps and a Digger please

Two regular Digger Blog readers, Scott Hastings and Joe Summerhill, recently told me about a great pub for plant and machinery enthusiasts; where good ale and food are readily available and they have a great little digger in the garden too!

The Excavator pub is located on the A610, at a place called Buckland Hollow, Ambergate, Derby, close to junction 28 of the M1 and is just 10 minutes from Derby itself, in an area often described as the gateway to the Peak District.

For many years there was an old JCB 1 excavator in the garden of the premises, but this has more recently been replaced by a JCB mini CX backhoe loader, which takes pride of place in front of the pub itself.

We have a plan to arrange a Digger Blog meet up at this venue next year, probably the night before we visit the Hillhead show, which runs from the 19th-21st June 2012, so if any other readers would like to attend please let me know nearer the time and I can get in touch with the pub management to advise of numbers etc.
