Longest bridge over the Danube nears completion
The longest bridge over the Danube, a controversial new rail/road bridge linking Bulgaria and Romania, is nearing completion. Built by Spain’s FCC, it is the biggest construction project in Bulgaria ever, and one of the most important projects supported by the EU. The bridge is almost 2 kilometres long with a budget of ,185 million.
José Manuel Barroso, the European Commission President will inaugurate the long-awaited bridge on May 9th.
