Cloburn Quarry may date back more than 100 years, but its beautiful red granite has never been more popular with a wide variety of applications. In its most common form, Lanark Red is used for domestic landscaping. It has become a hallmark of gardens and driveways across the UK and beyond with its decorative aggregates proving ideal for walkways, pathways and driveways, as well as for rockery stones. We delivery worldwide by rail, sea and road, with trains now leaving daily from our newly opened railhead. Free Samples of all products are available to order from our website.

Fine Aggregate: 0mm – 4mm Washed Concrete Sand

Sand, mixed with cement and water provides the matrix of the concrete. Cloburn sand is produced from the finest quality granite and will make the finished product structurally sound and highly resistant to wear. Sand is normally the weak link with regard to wear resistance in concrete products but not the sand from Cloburn. This is a quality which is of particular importance for concrete floors, roads and dock areas.

Cloburn Railhead Commences Operations

Cloburn Quarry Company are delight to announce the opening of the Ravenstruther Rail Terminal, a former coal loading terminal on the West Coast Main Line (WCML). The horseshoe-shaped, dual track terminal is adjacent to the town of Lanark in South Lanarkshire and only a stones throw away from the quarry. Track upgrades have been completed and the track is now fully linked to the Main Line with the first fully loaded trains safely on their way!

The loading terminal allows us serve our customers all over the UK and Europe. It is fantastic news to see more freight making its way back to the national rail network in light of the reduction over recent years, not to mention the inevitable reduction in carbon emissions this facility will lead to.
