Sustainable construction materials

Since Tarmac invented the modern road surface in 1902, we have been at the forefront of technological advances in construction materials. Today we are helping the industry to develop more sustainable construction solutions.

Rubber Modified Asphalts

Our Rubber Modified Asphalts enable up to 500 waste tyres to be recycled into every kilometre of road. The typical carbon footprint is also around 8% lower than the equivalent conventional asphalt.

Ultilow

Our Ultilow warm mix asphalts enable more sustainable road construction. Supplied and laid at lower temperatures, warm mix asphalts generate lower carbon emissions during production, compared to conventional hot mix asphalts. We have already supplied over 1.5 million tonnes of warm mix asphalt since 2013 resulting in significant carbon savings.
