The DSA originated in 1994, with the mission to provide the industry with the recognition it deserves, by promoting professional drilling and sawing contractors’ work, highlighting the advantages of using diamond tools to cut concrete. The DSA is committed to its members, helping create a positive role within the Specialist Contractor sector of the construction industry and to improve standards within the industry by establishing better codes of safe working practice, education, and Training.

Through hard work and dedication, the DSA became the first association to develop and implement our apprenticeship scheme and issue competency cards before CSCS cards and NVQs were available.

We are the only organisation that represents the interests of companies involved in the drilling and sawing industry in the UK.

Committed to improving the standards within the Diamond Drilling and Sawing industry, focusing on establishing better codes of safe working practice and providing better education and training. We have developed and implemented the first apprenticeship scheme in association with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and currently provide NVQs ranging from level 2-6, we offered the first-ever competency card prior to CSCS and NVQs. Now CSCS and DSA are united in providing training cards. Supporting the industry with the recognition it deserves and creating a positive role within the specialist contractor sector of the construction industry.

We produce the code of safe working practices and guidance documents such as health and safety documents, risk assessments, and environmental policies. The DSA’s website offers support to the industry on technical advice, the advantages of diamond drilling and sawing as well as training and safety.

Members benefit from approved operator training courses and the adoption of national safety standards and working codes of practices, as well as affiliation with other recognised construction industry international and national associations. The DSA also offers a forum for members to meet within an organised framework to discuss and share best practices and the future development of the industry.

We ensure that the quality of materials, service and workmanship provided by members is of the highest standard, and actively encourage good practice within the sector.

Members operate with the benefit of vast resources of business and technical information and support from the Association. DSA members are trained and certified through the NVQ process and Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card.
