Job Description
Asphalt & Aggregates Technician
Breedon is a leading constructions materials group in Great Britain and Ireland, with around 1 billion tonnes of mineral Reserves and Resources.
We are seeking an Asphalt & Aggregates Technician to join our team based at Shap Laboratory, covering our Asphalt and Aggregate Units in Cumbria.
Reporting to the Area Technical Manager, the successful candidate will effectively carry out routine testing and inspections of Asphalt & Aggregates to a consistently high standard.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Ensure full compliance with test frequencies, and monitor OCL levels
- Ensure sampling, testing, inspection and reporting of finished products and associated raw materials is in accordance with procedures, standards and frequencies
- Working closely with Operational colleagues, taking a proactive approach to reporting results, trends and resolving potential problems
- Produce monthly reports on the quality of all products
- Oversee lab facilities and equipment. Ensure all equipment is available and calibrated at all times, kept in good condition, and paper and electronic records are held securely.
- Ensure all BSi and UKAS requirements are met.
- Proactive approach to SHE. Ensure method statements & risk assessments are available and followed for all regular tasks. Produce risk assessments for any additional tasks as required.
The successful candidate will have:
- A good understanding of SHE policy & procedures and reporting requirements
- A knowledge of testing methods used in Asphalt & Aggregates, along with Quality Assurance systems and procedures
- An understanding of production methods used for all products and awareness of Company product range
- Working knowledge of Gradlab / Lastrada is desirable as well as an understanding of OCL.
- Full clean driving license
