Estimator job in Witney, Oxfordshire / Remote Working for a leading UK timber systems contractor, serving the housebuilding, hospitality and student accommodation sectors across England. They are looking for an Estimator from a sub-contractor, main contractor or developer/housebuilder background with experience in timberframe, timber systems, modular or joinery packages. The role offers a salary of up to £40,000 + bonus + healthcare + progression opportunities + hybrid working.
The Group is made up 11 businesses operating across 48 locations throughout the UK. Their timber systems business was established in 1860 and has the capacity to manufacture for 10,000 houses per year, supplying to both regional and national housebuilders and contractors. Ideally, you will be in a commutable distance of their Witney office for office visits 1-2 times per week and the rest working remotely from home. You will be joining an Estimating team of 6 based across their Scotland and Oxfordshire offices.
Role & Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Head of Estimating, you will be responsible for delivering commercial aspects of projects from pre-tender through to completion of the bid
- Working closely with the Key Account team and liaising with other key teams, review project information, assess the viability of projects and provide advice and guidance to the team
- Use ERP system to produce quotations
- Prepare and report on cost and margin in line with current pricing of materials and in line with quality standards
- Prepare tenders; identify, analyse and highlight relevant matters and risk within proposals for submission
- Build & maintain effective working relationships with internal project teams, in particular technical, to maximise effectiveness and efficiency of quotations.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in estimating for a sub-contractor, main contractor or developer/housebuilder
- Experience with timberframe, modular or joinery packages
- Ability to analyse architect/engineers drawings
- Commercial contract knowledge
- Preferably HNC / HND or above in construction, quantity surveying or similar
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- ERP, IFS or similar knowledge would be advantageous.
