Bath favours the French for new builds

29 Sep 14 French contractors Bouygues and Vinci have each landed a £16m contract from the University of Bath to build new teaching facilities.

The University of Bath has handed Bouygues UK a £16.0m contract to build new facilities for its Faculty of Engineering & Design.

The new building, currently designated 4 East South, will also house a new computing services data centre.

Vinci Construction UK has won a £16.6m contract to build a new home for the university’s Department of Psychology. This building, currently designated 10 West (and pictured below), will also be home to the Institute for Policy Research.

The university secured planning permission for these buildings earlier this month. They take recent investment in the campus to more than £150m.
