The University House building is to be refurbished and integrated with the Students' Union, which was itself redeveloped in 2010. The new larger Students' Union will be the central focus of the campus.
It will include student services and space for student activities as well as shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, spaces for the whole University community to share and improved accessibility for disabled students and visitors.
The initial estimate for the job by the university’s estates department was £12m.
