Wharton Construction awarded college contract in Guisborough

16 Jan 12 Wharton Construction of Darlington have been awarded the contract to construct a new £1.6 million Arts and Media Building in Guisborough for Prior Pursglove College.

The contract is due to commence on 23rd January 2012 and is programmed to be complete in 36 weeks, the new building will provide over 1100m² of additional teaching space spread over 3 floors.

It is not the first time that Wharton Construction have worked at Prior Pursglove College, in 2010 they were awarded the contract to install a Mondo sprung floor and new heating system in the Sports Hall.

Managing Director, Peter Wharton stated “We are delighted to have been awarded the project and are looking forward to working with the college and design team. We hope that the contract bodes well for 2012.”

Despite the tough economic conditions, Wharton Construction completed some notable projects in 2011 for the likes of Cleveland College of Art & Design, NHS, Stockton Borough Council, Bowes Museum, English Heritage, Durham County Council and Teesside University amongst others.

Wharton Construction are hoping that one of their projects will be nominated for a 2012 RICS North East Renaissance Award, having been shortlisted in 2010 for the Thorngate development, Barnard Castle and in 2011 for and Tower Knowe Visitor Centre, Kielder.
