II.1.4) Short description

The project is for the provision of a new Paediatric Department located within the refurbished ground and first floors of the existing Treatment Wing of the Altnagelvin Hospital Tower. The proposals also include two new double storey extension links (with rooftop plant to each) which provide additional accommodation and link the refurbished treatment wing to the north/south Hospital Street on both levels. The ground floor will accommodate the Outpatients Department comprising 12 no Consult/Exam rooms, Day Case facilities and an Acute Paediatric Assessment Unit together with staff facilities and ancillary accommodation. The first floor will provide ward accommodation with 25 no single bedrooms with dedicated ensuites together with an additional 3 person bedroom. The development also includes the creation of two enclosed courtyards which will be landscaped for patient use as well as several roof terraces with direct access from patient bedrooms.
