II.2.4) Description of the procurement

Retread process - a recycling process in which the existing aggregate in the road is used, bitumen emulsion is added and the road reshaped. It is usually suitable for use on lightly trafficked roads.

To prolong the life of the asset, this is usually followed by the micro asphalt process, however, each can be used independently.

The micro asphalt process is a two-phase process. First, a regulating layer of material is applied. This improves the surface profile of the road. This is followed by a second layer which gives the final surface. Both layers are usually applied on the same day, to a thickness of approximately 14mm
