II.1.4) Short description

Nexus requires a suitably qualified and experienced main contractor, experienced in marine environment construction who will be responsible for the design, consents and construction of various elements related to the North Shields Ferry Landing Relocation project. This includes the construction of a new ferry landing, associated works on the existing Western Quay to enable public access and utility routing, extension of the existing Fish Quay's Protection Jetty and removal of all existing redundant structures at the old ferry landing.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement

The contractor will be required to:

a) Conduct full design responsibilities, including studies, investigations, modelling and calculations to inform the design process.

b) Obtain any further necessary consents, licenses, permissions and leases from relevant authorities including liaison with consenting authorities, application submissions and compliance with consent conditions.

c) Develop detailed design information and construction method statements, subject to review and approval by the Project Manager and Engineer.

d) Take full responsibility for the content and preparation of all consent submissions, including fees and charges.

e) Execute all construction activities required to complete the project according to the Scope outlined in the Client's Requirements documents.

f) Commit to social value contract conditions, manage public consultation and maintain positive stakeholder relations with all interested parties.

g) Ensure resources are available to provide Nexus with any required details to support the grant funding conditions for the development.

h) Ensure the recently approved outline planning consent conditions are discharged.

Contract Strategy

A single stage procurement will be undertaken via the issuance of an Invitation to Tender (ITT). The form of contract will be a NEC4 Option C (Target Cost with Activity Schedule) including a reasonable Gain/Pain share mechanism. The contract will also include Z Clause amendments to ensure suitable risk apportionment between the parties.

Ground Investigation/Planning Position

Nexus have carried out the Ground Investigation for the Western Quay which is the new location for the Ferry Landing and jetty extension. The report from this investigation will be issued as part of the Invitation to Tender. The client has obtained planning permission for the outline design. This approval signifies that the project aligns with local regulations and land-use policies. The client has also secured an MMO license, which is essential for any marine-related activities.
