Here is a very interesting video clip taken from a vintage publicity film from around the 1970's showing the construction and working of one of the earthmoving legends of the UK coal mining scene. The Bucyrus- Erie 1550W which was known as Big Geordie.
This iconic machine was retired and parked up in 1993 and sadly cut up for scrap in 2003.
