Flannery Plants Hyundai R480LC-9 is a prime mover in Nottingham

Machine operator and regular Digger Blog reader, Scott Hastings, has been out and about on his travels, and snapped some shots of an impressive Dash 9 Hyundai excavator at work.

The Hyundai R480LC-9 is the flagship heavyweight excavator in London based Flannery Plant Hire Ltd’s comprehensive fleet. Weighing in at 48,000kg and powered by a 266kw (362hp) Cummins QSM11 engine, the R480LC-9 is a very fast machine, with an impressive performance level, and which offers quality and reliability at a very competitive price.

This particular machine is currently involved in the major earthworks for the new Nottingham Express Transit, tramline extension project, which is being undertaken by a Taylor Woodrow/Alstom joint venture and is currently 6 months into its construction phase, with completion due late in 2014.

As you might recall, the Digger Blog test drove a 14 ton Dash 9 machine earlier this year, and I must say I was very impressed with the machine. It would be great to spend some time on one of the company’s larger machines to see how they compare to other brands. The Dash 9’s are certainly gaining a strong following in the UK at the moment, and from my operating experience, it’s not hard to see why.
