DSM Demolition's boiler house & chimney blowdown

On 24th July 2022, the last remaining structures at Eggborough Power Station in North Yorkshire were brought down by a controlled explosion, with the blast captured by drone.

The structures were previously part of the decommissioned Eggborough Power Station that was closed down in 2018. Once considered a landmark in Eggborough, the former structures, built in the 1960s, had reached the end of their operational life. The demolition will make way for the regeneration of the area into industrial warehouses.

The 50,000-tonne steel framed boiler house and 20,000-tonne 200-metre-tall reinforced concrete chimney took just 10 seconds to fall to the ground.
