Breedon are seeking a Divisional Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing to join our Cement division.

Based at Hope Cement Works in Derbyshire, the role will cover the UK and Ireland and the post holder will be expected to travel across the business. The role requires an experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor or Manager capable of communicating at all levels.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop the annual Health, Safety and Wellbeing plan for the Cement Business Unit including monitoring of targets through leading and lagging measures.
  • Provide accurate and prompt advice, support and reports on Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
  • Develop a mature health, safety & wellbeing culture within the organisation engaging and consulting with all colleagues throughout, including relevant trades Unions
  • To conduct a programme of inspections or behavioural audits, send written reports and recommendations to the relevant managers in their area.
  • To ensure that all accidents, dangerous occurrences, near-misses, incidents and cases of occupational ill health, in their relevant area, are fully investigated using root cause analysis techniques (as appropriate) and advise on the necessary measures to avoid a similar occurrence.
  • Where appropriate, to act as the primary point of contact for the local or national health and safety regulatory and enforcement bodies.
  • To liaise with Company employees, suppliers and contractors regarding the H&S requirements of plant and equipment in their relevant area to ensure compliance with legal and company standards.
  • To assist managers in their respective area in the development of risk assessments, safe working practices and procedures.
  • To compile and analyse accident and incident statistics and produce monthly reports and other required information.
  • To keep informed and research Safety initiatives and programmes relevant to Heavy Industrial industries similar to Breedon.

Education/qualifications required:

  • NEBOSH/IEMA Certificate or equivalent.
  • NEBOSH/IEMA Diploma or equivalent (desired but must be obtained within 2 year of taking role).
  • IOSH/IEMA membership (desired).
  • Certified auditor (desired).
  • Trained in Root Cause Analyses (RCA) techniques (desired).
  • Degree (desired).
