Construction Internal Quality Assurer

Construction Internal Quality Assurer 

 
Starting Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 
 
Reports to: Construction Manager 
 
Hours: Full-time (Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm, Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm)
30 days annual leave, rising to 33 after 1 year, including Bank Holiday
 
Job Purpose: 
The IQA will have a key role ensuring quality in the delivery and assessment of qualifications within Construction. The duties and responsibilities are an integral part of Skills Groups quality procedures relating to the monitoring of teaching, learning and assessment activities which learners undertake. 
 
Responsibilities: 
• To ensure the integrity and quality of assessment within the organisation 
• Maintain policies and procedures to facilitate and improve the delivery of assessment 
• Support assessors in their role 
• Plan for internal Quality Assurance 
• Internally Quality Assure assessment by benchmarking practice, sampling the work of assessors and observing individual assessors’ performance 
• Evaluate the effectiveness of assessment practice and procedures 
• Modify practice and procedures as a result of evaluation 
• Produce individual development plans for each assessor, based on observations and sampling of their work 
• Support assessors in implementing changes 
• Maintain own occupational competence and professional development as part of Continuous Professional Development 
 
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
• Qualifications within any construction trade and 10 years’ experience within the construction industry 
• Recognised Qualification: D34, V1 or Level 4 Award in the internal quality assurance of assessment processes and practice or Level 4 Certificate in leading the internal quality assurance of assessment processes and practice 
• Up to date, current experience in a Quality Assurance role 
• Competent Literacy and Numeracy Skills, relevant to the sector - Functional Skills, National English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 minimum 
• Good oral and written communication skills 
• CPD – evidence of having maintained currency of knowledge and skills to ensure assessment practice and subject knowledge is up to date 
• Responsibility – ability to make objective decisions, follow all organisational guidelines and produce reports as required
