£15m Thameslink signalling deal for Balfour Beatty

4 Oct 12 Network Rail has awarded Balfour Beatty Rail a framework for the London Bridge area signalling-related civils minor works.

The framework, which is worth in the region of £15m, covers the lineside civil engineering elements of the signalling scope for Thameslink key output 2 programme.

Under the framework Balfour Beatty Rail, will be responsible for the procurement, design, installation and commissioning of new signal structures; refurbishment of existing structures; ground works and foundations; under track and under road crossings (UTXs and URXs); SPT and drivers’ walkways; REB bases and compounds; troughing routes and cable management systems and minor building works to the London Bridge area signalling centre.

Balfour Beatty Rail managing director Mark Bullock said: “We are delighted to be awarded this framework contract and very much look forward to continuing our long-term relationship with Network Rail’s Thameslink team. By integrating the civil engineering works with our existing track project at London Bridge it means we can reduce the number of interfaces, optimise the use of critical resources and offer a single management structurewith a co-ordinated approach to the delivery of this important programme of works.”
