Rijkswaterstaat, the executive arm of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & the Environment, is client for the A1 and A6 reconstruction, widening and maintenance contract. This design, build, finance, maintain contract is the first part of the Schiphol Airport-Amsterdam-Almere road expansion programme.
"We are very pleased with this sizable DBFM contract,” said Boskalis Peter Berdowski. “Following the acquisition of MNO Vervat late last year, we are now well positioned to play an important role in such large infra projects in the Netherlands."
The project involves the design, construction and financing as well as the 30-year maintenance of the existing and new infrastructure between intersection Diemen (A1) and Almere Havendreef (A6).
Rijkswaterstaat expects to formally award the project by the end of November 2012 and the SAAone consortium expects to complete the financial close early 2013. The SAAone consortium consist of Boskalis, VolkerWessels, Hochtief and DIF. The construction activities will be contracted by SAAone and executed by a construction consortium consisting of Boskalis (30%), VolkerWessels (35%) and Hochtief (35%).
