£30m marine works up for grabs at MoD oil depot

11 Dec 12 The Defence Infrastructure Organisation has gone out to tender with a £25m-£35m contract for works at Thanckes oil fuel depot in Cornwall.

Proposed work includes the design and construction of a new fuel jetty and approach bridge, mooring dolphins, dredged berth pocket, fuel pipelines and manifold so that bigger ships can dock to collect and deliver fuel.

The works also include associated provision of welfare facilities, power supply, CCTV communications, water supply, fenders and mooring equipment, and demolition of existing jetty upon completion.

Thanckes Oil Fuel Depot is a Ministry of Defence facility on the west bank of the River Tamar between Torpoint and Wilcove. It holds class three marine diesel and aviation fuel for the Royal Navy and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
