Bramall wins £7.6m Basildon care home

15 Feb 10 Bramall Construction has won a £7.6m contract to deliver a care home for older people in Basildon, Essex.

Bramall Construction has won a £7.6m contract to deliver a care home for older people in Basildon, Essex.

The contractor has been appointed by UK housing and care provider Sanctuary Group to build 65 new apartments for residents aged 55 and over in the Pitsea area. The new scheme will replace an outdated sheltered housing block previously on the site.

When complete, it will include a launderette, hairdressers and restaurant. Many of the facilities will be available to the local community to use once the scheme is built.

The announcement is the second such scheme being delivered by Bramall in the East of England, following Sanctuary’s award of an £11m contract to deliver a new Extra Care project in Soham, Cambridgeshire, last year. Bramall has recently also started working on another Extra Care scheme in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire as part of a £7m partnership with Hanover Housing.

It is expected that the Pitsea scheme will be complete in November 2011.
