The purchase price has not been disclosed.
Westcountry Crane Hire was established in 1984 and owned since 2005 by Brian and Donna Metters. Its website lists a dozen different cranes in its fleet, up to a 100-tonne capacity Grove GMK 5100.
The deal means that Ainscough Crane Hire now has 29 depots.
Ainscough managing director Neil Partridge said: “I am delighted to announce our successful acquisition of West Country Crane Hire – the acquisition truly completes our national network. The Plymouth site will operate as an Ainscough depot immediately, and we look forward to working with employees, customers and suppliers.”
Mr Metters said: “My wife and I have enjoyed running the business, and we are delighted to be passing it into safe hands.”
