Work could start on site before the end of the year, for completion by early 2013.
Wates is already rebuilding Campsmount Technology College under a £10.7m contract for the council. Campsmount was damaged by fire in 2009.
Wates Construction business unit director David Price, for in Yorkshire, said: “Being named preferred contractor for Outwood Academy in Adwick is a significant achievement for Wates and our appointment to the project reflects our commitment to the efficient delivery of school rebuilding works.
“The rebuild of Campsmount Technology College is a continuing success and we are very proud to be contributing further to the significant improvements being made to education facilities in Doncaster.”
A full planning application for Outwood will be submitted in August, and contract award follow on.
